Luxembourg is making significant strides in the field of artificial intelligence by planning to build a supercomputer specifically designed for AI tasks. The government has recently unveiled a roadmap for this ambitious project, which includes the establishment of the Luxembourg AI Factory. This initiative aims to position Luxembourg as a key player in the European AI landscape.

The new supercomputer, named MeluXina-AI, will be managed by LuxProvide, the same organization that oversees the existing MeluXina supercomputer. The project is expected to enhance the country's capabilities in digital technology and AI, aligning with Luxembourg's goal to foster innovation and support its national AI ecosystem. The AI Factory will work closely with various institutions, including the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.

In terms of infrastructure, the supercomputer will be housed in data centers located in Bissen and Bettembourg. Half of its computing power will be allocated to the EuroHPC network, benefiting European countries, while the other half will cater to local needs. The Luxembourg government is investing €60 million into this strategic project, highlighting its commitment to advancing technology and research in the region.
