SK Broadband has recently completed the establishment of a dedicated line based on post-quantum cryptography (PQC), marking a significant step in enhancing security measures for public institutions. This initiative aims to prepare for the era of quantum computing, which poses new challenges to traditional security systems. The project connects the headquarters of Korea Electric Power Technology with seven of its field offices, showcasing the first real-world application of PQC since its commercial launch last year.

The technology behind PQC is designed to protect sensitive data against potential threats posed by quantum computers. Unlike traditional encryption methods, which could be easily compromised by quantum computing, PQC utilizes complex mathematical algorithms that are difficult for even advanced computers to break. This advancement is crucial as the limitations of existing security systems, such as RSA encryption, become apparent in the face of evolving technology.

In addition to this project, SK Broadband has also implemented a dual security system combining PQC and quantum key distribution (QKD) in the banking sector. This innovative approach ensures that sensitive information, such as biometric data, is securely transmitted and protected throughout its journey. The company aims to expand the use of these advanced security technologies across various industries, including finance, healthcare, and defense, to enhance overall data protection.
