Boston Dynamics, a well-known American robotics company, has recently purchased humanoid robots and smaller bots from a Chinese startup called Unitree Robotics. This acquisition is aimed at conducting tests and research to better understand the capabilities of Unitree's innovative products. Marc Raibert, the founder of Boston Dynamics, expressed his interest in learning from Unitree's advancements, especially after witnessing their impressive demonstrations at a recent conference in Shanghai.

Raibert highlighted the challenges that come with commercializing humanoid robots, such as adapting to various real-world situations, ensuring safety, and managing costs. He pointed out that while these robots can perform many human-like functions, there are still significant hurdles to overcome, particularly in replicating the intricate details of human biology, like muscle fibers and skin.

With over fifty years of experience in robotics, Raibert established Boston Dynamics' AI Institute to focus on developing the next generation of intelligent robots. He believes that the current wave of innovation in artificial intelligence, particularly from Chinese companies, is just the beginning of a technological revolution that will continue to evolve and reshape the future.
