The Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) is set to introduce a new digital system for halal certification that utilizes artificial intelligence. This innovative system, named SI Halal, aims to streamline the certification process, allowing it to be completed within 24 hours. The initiative is designed to enhance transparency and affordability for businesses seeking halal certification.

According to Ahmad Haikal Hasan, the head of BPJPH, the new system will enable entrepreneurs to apply for certification, track their application status, and receive real-time updates on any issues or evaluations. The goal is to eliminate the perception that halal certification is complicated and expensive, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which can obtain certification for free if they follow the established procedures.

The launch of SI Halal is planned for after the 2025 Eid celebrations, as the system is currently undergoing testing and refinement. Haikal emphasized that the new approach could significantly increase the number of certified halal businesses in Indonesia, which currently stands at only about 3% of the total number of entrepreneurs in the country. This initiative is part of a broader effort to position Indonesia as a global leader in halal products.
