India is taking significant steps to enhance data privacy by allowing the Chinese AI platform DeepSeek to operate on local servers. This decision, announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, aims to address concerns about user safety and prevent cross-border data transfers. By hosting DeepSeek within India, the government hopes to reassure users that their data will remain secure and not be shared internationally.
DeepSeek, developed by a Chinese company, has raised global concerns regarding data security. The Indian government’s initiative to host the AI tool locally is seen as a way to mitigate these risks. Vaishnaw emphasized that DeepSeek is an open-source platform, which should further alleviate privacy worries among users.
