The K-Humanoid Alliance has officially launched, bringing together over 40 organizations from the government, academia, and industry to advance humanoid robot development in South Korea. The event took place at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul, where officials emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving success in this rapidly evolving field. Humanoid robots, which are designed to think and act like humans using artificial intelligence, are gaining significant attention and investment from major tech companies worldwide.

Despite South Korea's strong performance in global robotics competitions, government support has been limited until now. The K-Humanoid Alliance aims to change that by focusing on the development of AI technology, which is crucial for the functionality of these robots. Leading universities, including Seoul National University and KAIST, will contribute to AI research, while various robotics manufacturers will collaborate on hardware development to create high-performance robots by 2028.

The alliance's immediate goal is to develop a foundational AI model for robots, with plans for increased funding and support for collaborative projects among member companies. The Minister of Industry expressed hope that this initiative would foster innovation and nurture talent in the robotics sector, highlighting the importance of teamwork in achieving breakthroughs in technology.
